Rail travel between Ukraine and Central Europe is entering a new stage. Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has announced expanded travel opportunities to Germany — now with just one convenient transfer, thanks to the updated 2025–2026 timetable.
The changes come as new data reveals a shift in migration trends: Germany has surpassed Poland in the number of Ukrainian refugees it hosts. As of late 2024, more than 1.14 million Ukrainians with temporary protection reside in Germany. In response, Ukrzaliznytsia, together with Polish and German partners, is synchronizing schedules to make travel more predictable and comfortable for millions of Ukrainians.
Beginning in December 2025, cross-border rail traffic between Poland and Germany will increase by 54%, with the number of direct trains rising from 11 to 17. This means passengers travelling between Ukraine and Germany will need just one easy transfer.
