The average annual salary across the European Union reached €39,800 in 2024, marking a 5.2% increase compared with the previous year, according to the latest Eurostat data.
Highest Earnings Recorded in Northern and Western Europe
The countries with the highest average gross annual salaries were:
- Luxembourg — €83,000
- Denmark — €71,600
- Ireland — €61,100
These nations continue to lead the EU in terms of income levels and overall economic resilience.
Steady Growth in Central Europe
Poland recorded an average annual salary of €21,250 in 2024 — more than €3,000 higher than the year before. The country’s labour market remains one of the fastest-growing in the region.
Lowest Salaries in the EU
The lowest average annual earnings were registered in:
- Bulgaria — €15,400
- Greece — €18,000
- Hungary — €18,500
Even these figures remain significantly above Ukrainian income levels.
Ukraine’s Position
According to Ukraine’s State Statistics Service, the average salary in 2024 amounted to:
- ₴21,473 per month (approximately €494),
- which totals €5,900 annually at the average National Bank exchange rate.
This means the average EU salary is almost seven times higher than the Ukrainian equivalent, highlighting the substantial economic gap between Ukraine and the European Union.
