Ukrainian rail manufacturing receives strong government support.
Tank cars produced by Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works (KVBZ) have officially joined an experimental state support program under the national economic platform “Made in Ukraine”, enabling buyers to receive 15% compensation of the equipment cost.
Key Decision: KVBZ Tank Cars Eligible for State Compensation
According to Order No. 625 of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine (dated October 2, 2025), the following KVBZ products have been added to the list of domestically manufactured equipment eligible for partial reimbursement from the state budget:
- Tank car for vegetable oils — model 15-7140
- Tank car for petroleum products — model 15-7076
Buyers are eligible for a 15% reimbursement (excluding VAT) of the purchase price, based on acceptance certificates and documents confirming full payment via an authorized bank.
“Made in Ukraine”: Supporting Domestic Manufacturing and Market Recovery
The compensation mechanism has been in force since September 2024 as part of Ukraine’s broader “Made in Ukraine” industrial policy.
Its key objectives include:
- supporting domestic manufacturers;
- stimulating internal demand;
- strengthening industrial recovery and economic resilience.
A mandatory requirement of the program is a minimum localization level of 40%.
KVBZ exceeds this threshold significantly, achieving localization of up to 90% in tank car production.
Advanced Manufacturing and Long-Term Investment
KVBZ tank cars are the result of sustained investment in modern manufacturing technologies. The company was among the first in Ukraine to introduce high-end equipment from leading global suppliers, including:
- FACCIN (Italy) production line for manufacturing elliptical tank heads;
- four-roll plate bending machines for tank shell forming;
- HYPERTHERM precision plasma cutting systems for large-scale components;
- automated ESAB (Sweden) welding lines for tank shells of various diameters.
All test benches and hydraulic pressure testing systems for tank integrity were designed and manufactured in-house by KVBZ specialists.
Decades of Proven Expertise
KVBZ has been producing tank cars since the 1990s, delivering thousands of units to domestic and international customers. Its portfolio includes:
- 15-776 and 15-776-01 tank cars for light petroleum products;
- 15-776E models designed for viscous petroleum products with internal steam heating systems.
Today, KVBZ tank cars are operated by Ukrainian private logistics companies and exported to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and other markets.
