OKKO Group Invests in Ukraine’s Renewable Energy Future

OKKO Group, which includes the “Concern Galnaftogaz” fuel network operator, has announced the launch of its first wind power project — the 147 MW Ivanychi Wind Farm located in the Volyn region of western Ukraine.

The project is being developed in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB).
The company plans to commission the facility by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

“We hope to put the wind complex into operation by the end of the year or early next year. It’s being built together with EBRD, IFC, and BSTDB,” said Vasyl Danylyak, CEO of OKKO Group, during the Kyiv International Economic Forum.

New Project — Zaturyntsi Wind Farm (192 MW)

Alongside Ivanychi, OKKO has launched another ambitious renewable project — the Zaturyntsi Wind Farm, with a planned capacity of 192 MW, located near the first site.

Together, the two projects form part of OKKO Group’s broader strategy for decentralized energy generation, aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience and independence.

Beyond Energy: Diversified Growth

Beyond wind power, OKKO Group continues to invest in multiple high-impact projects across Ukraine’s economy:

  • completing the first phase of a bioethanol plant (launch in 2026);
  • developing the all-season GORO Mountain Resort;
  • building a grain elevator with 60,000-ton capacity by autumn 2025;
  • implementing agricultural projects with Hadz-Agro farm in Ternopil region.

“The war exposed the fragility of the old energy system. That’s why we’re investing in decentralized generation — it’s the future,” emphasized Vasyl Danylyak, CEO of OKKO Group.

Energy Goals for the Next Five Years

OKKO Group has set an ambitious roadmap to expand its clean energy capacity:

  • 600 MW in wind energy,
  • 200 MW in solar energy,
  • 150 MW in energy storage systems (ESS).

These projects aim to reduce carbon emissions, boost local employment, and strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence, aligning with the country’s long-term sustainability goals.

A Symbol of Resilience and Progress

OKKO Group’s first wind power plant marks a milestone for Ukraine’s green transformation — proving that even amid war, the country remains open for global investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
