Usyk Enters Boxing Immortality with Historic Undisputed Title Win
On July 19, at Wembley Stadium in London, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) delivered a dominant performance, knocking out British IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) in the 5th round of their rematch to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
Usyk is now the first boxer since the legendary Muhammad Ali to become an undisputed heavyweight champion more than once. Ali achieved undisputed status three times — in 1964, 1967, and 1978 — at a time when only the WBA and WBC titles were needed. Today, a fighter must hold all four major belts: WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO — and Usyk has done just that.
This victory marks Usyk’s third career undisputed championship, including his previous reign in the cruiserweight division. That makes him the first boxer in the four-belt era to become an undisputed champion three times — a feat unmatched in modern boxing history.
Other two-time undisputed champions in the four-belt era include Naoya Inoue and Terence Crawford (in different weight classes), and Canelo Álvarez (twice in the same division).
Usyk is more than a champion — he is a symbol of resilience, strength, and the indomitable Ukrainian spirit. His name is now etched in the annals of both boxing and Ukrainian history.
