The war in Georgia had to have an effect on Ukraine. The recent bloody events in this small country made an impression on the local political life – after all Georgia, like Ukraine, is state bordering on the Black Sea. And the warships of the Russian Black Sea fleet, stationed on the Ukrainian Crimea, are involved in the conflict.
While Ukraine officially shows solidarity with Georgia and its claims of territorial integrity, public opinion is not so one-sided. In various cities, both pro-Georgian and pro-Russian demonstrations took place that reflected the differences in the people’s views on the problem. The picture shows the Georgian flag being flown on the Lviv city council building.
