Ukraine has launched the construction of a parking and rest area near the international border crossing on the M-15 Odesa – Reni (to Bucharest) highway.
Project Goals
- Enhance road safety before the border crossing.
- Reduce congestion on access roads and optimize traffic flows.
- Provide comfortable rest conditions for drivers and passengers crossing the border with Moldova.
Site Specifications
- Total area: 1.7 hectares.
- Parking capacity:
- 46 spaces for freight transport.
- 13 spaces for passenger cars, including 2 spaces for people with disabilities.
Financing
- 50% of costs covered by an EU grant under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program.
- 50% financed from Ukraine’s state budget.
European Context
The project is part of the “Solidarity Lanes” initiative, which aims to:
- integrate Ukraine’s transport routes into the European network,
- create new opportunities for exports and bilateral trade with the EU.
